48  x 36 inches - Acrylic, gauze, pencil, mixed media on canvas. This series is inspired by current events, by conflicts and social issues. The handprints technique connects me to the work in a physical way. The paintings are built up through layers of mostly gray acrylic paint, overlaid with thick streams of more paint, glued gauze and marks made with pencil, charcoal and brush strokes. The images emerge but also disappear in a precarious cycle of existence in the exploration of a tragic reality.

Who Is Your Enemy, and Why?
The paintings in this series are inspired by current events, conflicts and social issues. While felt through an emotional state, the subjects claim their own identity and meaning.

Even though I could not and never will be able to bear finishing this painting—because too emotionally painful—the tragedy it represents remains real.
